Mana Kawamura studied literature at Waseda University and, after working in the corporate sector, enrolled in the Graduate School of Kyoto University of the Arts, where she pursued painting. Drawing inspiration from literary works, she has continued to create paintings that take language and words as central motifs. In 2025, she was awarded the Grand Prize at the Gunma Young Artists Biennale 2025.
Sayaka Hanafusa (née Suzuki) received the VOCA Prize and the Grand Prize at VOCA 2013, becoming the youngest recipient in the exhibition’s history. Using soft pastel colors and bold compositions that emphasize architectural interior perspectives, her paintings create a distinctive rhythm and convey a sense of lightness and comfort. With support from the Pola Art Foundation, she undertook a residency in France. After returning to Japan, she relocated to Nagi, Okayama Prefecture, where she has contributed to the local arts and culture not only through her artistic practice and exhibitions, but also through her work as a curator.
We invite you to experience this exhibition featuring works by two painters whose future endeavors promise continued and growing distinction.
