Born in Shimane, Japan in 1969. Kato’s works draw an attention with their mysterious and powerful character expressions reminiscent of primitive art. His first drawings were presented to the public in the mid-1990s, and in the early 2000s he started to explore himself in wooden sculptures. He received an international acclaim when he was invited to the Venice Biennale 52nd International Art Exhibition in 2007.

Born in Yamagata, 1933. After graduating from Tokyo National College of Photography (now Tokyo Polytechnic University), she started her activity as a freelance photographer. She also worked as a filmmaker and made a great contribution to the post-war experimental art movement. Many of her works show death, eroticism and irrationality and are pierced with an emotional tension.
